The Ultimate Girls Day Out! #ugdo
I attended my first ever Ultimate Girls Day Out last Sunday in the RDS. Award winning publisher and event organisers Harmonia are behind the very successful show which has been running for a number of years now.
It has been on my to do list for a while and I finally went along this year with my sister Shelly.
We went early and got our goody bag (who doesn't love goody bags!) and stayed for the day. We took part in everything we possibly could!
It had stands for make-up, massage, accessories, clothes, shoes, sparkly wine glasses (is there any other kind!), oils, lotions and potions, tarot readers, food and drink...it had it all really!!
We spoke to people on the stands from owners of boutiques to new business launches. One of these was "Wishes". The concept is simple but so sweet. You pick a "wish ribbon": Love, Friendship, Confidence, Courage, Success, Prosperity, Health, Happiness. You wear it on your bracelet until you feel it has come true and then you can transfer it to your chain and you can choose another wish ribbon whilst keeping the original one ever present. You should check out their website (it will launch shortly but you can sign up to be notified when it does) for more details on this lovely concept.
Also there was the lovely lady from Make Me Sparkle. The glasses were so fabulous we had to buy 2...at 2 for €20 it was a no-brainer!
We got our make-up done with Benefit and got lots of helpful tips from Sophie there. We purchased some products and got a lovely tote with a cute message: "Laughter is the best cosmetic"...I love sayings like that!!
We attended a very interesting talk by Yoganda where we got tips on making our own face masques, how to do a face massage and we made our own oils. We were told to literally follow our noses when picking the oils and we were both very happy with the results. The smell of the oils were amazing and it was so relaxing!!
We also attended a talk with psychic Una Power about tuning into our own psychic ability. It was also very interesting and a few people got to ask questions too!
The Gillette Venus Catwalk was really enjoyable. It was styled by top stylist Catherine Condell and the Irish Tatler team with make-up by No.7 and hair by Michael Leong and his talented team. Last but by no means least the days host Lorraine Keane was a pleasure and very stylish showcasing various designs. As she said herself she was busy spending what she had earned at the various stands...it was easily done!!
Ufashion.ie was also launched at the event and there was a sample sale later in the day.
I got a faux fur black jacket that I have been on the lookout for. I also got a lovely little short kimono type top that will be great for holidays. They were a steal at €10 each!
There was a model search, a best pair of shoes and best dressed prizes...my sister won one of the hourly prizes for her Vivienne Westwood shoes!!
We also both got a chance to be a cover girl for U Magazine!
I knew it'd be my kind of thing but I enjoyed it more then I even thought I would and my sister had a great time too!
We were on a high afterwards and celebrated with a glass of wine in our new sparkly glasses...sure why not!!
It was a brilliant way to spend a Sunday and I hope to return next year!!
Bye for nowxxx
